THE SPIRIT MOVES

A spirit moves
like the giant walls in Moki Canyon
Down to the channels end
and back out again
a spirit moves
A spirit moves
like the awesome bodies of water in Lake Powell
Observant, sometimes quiet -
sometimes loud -
Laughter gently rippling
along the water ways
The Spirit moves in on us.

PINNING OUT A POEM FOR HIM

PINNING OUT A POEM FOR HIM

Tom teases me that my poems don’t rhyme
For me it’s the contents that matters
Playing with words takes so much time
Yet he’s right in that it’s fun for words to flatter

As I adore him daily and watch his life unfold
I take and reflect upon the events
Children, and work, and lake trips retold
Each day opens up notions and simple hints

Obviously I have something to prove
Because I’m sitting here pinning this out
To be a true poet you need philosophy
Combined with the imagery you can see all around

So thank you to nature and our people surrounding
My chance to propose a life with God’s grace
A path of righteous living with maximum integrity
Giving way to deeper feelings and greater victories!

Tom is so charming, not always patient or understanding
But Tom is so helpful and works hard for us all
Tom is so interesting and I love living with him,
Yet writing poetry is harder than he would have thought!
