There will be times you'll feel justified
But alittle patience will be on your side, so ---
When in doubt - don't!
Right or wrong - may be hard to define.
Surrendering now could later be on your side so ---
When in doubt - don't.
Hold your tongue, hold your temptation
Wait till your fire burns low
Step softly and to the side
To let your beauty and integrity show
and grow
Be a love - when in doubt - don't.

This blog was created for my grandson Luke Stauffer with some of my poetry & prose I've written since I was 23 years old, to share with family & friends to encourage their creative writing & the arts.
THE SPIRIT MOVES
A spirit moves
like the giant walls in Moki Canyon
Down to the channels end
and back out again
a spirit moves
A spirit moves
like the awesome bodies of water in Lake Powell
Observant, sometimes quiet -
sometimes loud -
Laughter gently rippling
along the water ways
The Spirit moves in on us.
like the giant walls in Moki Canyon
Down to the channels end
and back out again
a spirit moves
A spirit moves
like the awesome bodies of water in Lake Powell
Observant, sometimes quiet -
sometimes loud -
Laughter gently rippling
along the water ways
The Spirit moves in on us.

HOLDEN BACK THE GUNNISON RIVER
“Dedicated to Boulder Roller & Tin Man” - Calvin & Tom
Stand down young man!
These ole guys have got it covered
Holding back the Gunnison River
Only what to discover?
Patiently working
Surrounded by water
Disclosing the black sand
And the treasure it’s a part of
But danger is standard
For these rugged outdoors men
They love the adventure
And the pure gold potential
What can they be thinking?
As the hole gets larger
It may crash & smash
& the dam grows broader
The river is cold now
The rapids are low
And for hundreds of years
The river has failed to disclose
The secrets of the earth
The tales of old miners
The hidden spots where it’s collected
The depth of the gold that is finer.
