PINNING OUT A POEM FOR HIM
Tom teases me that my poems don’t rhyme
For me it’s the contents that matters
Playing with words takes so much time
Yet he’s right in that it’s fun for words to flatter
As I adore him daily and watch his life unfold
I take and reflect upon the events
Children, and work, and lake trips retold
Each day opens up notions and simple hints
Obviously I have something to prove
Because I’m sitting here pinning this out
To be a true poet you need philosophy
Combined with the imagery you can see all around
So thank you to nature and our people surrounding
My chance to propose a life with God’s grace
A path of righteous living with maximum integrity
Giving way to deeper feelings and greater victories!
Tom is so charming, not always patient or understanding
But Tom is so helpful and works hard for us all
Tom is so interesting and I love living with him,
Yet writing poetry is harder than he would have thought!

This blog was created for my grandson Luke Stauffer with some of my poetry & prose I've written since I was 23 years old, to share with family & friends to encourage their creative writing & the arts.
THE SPIRIT MOVES
A spirit moves
like the giant walls in Moki Canyon
Down to the channels end
and back out again
a spirit moves
A spirit moves
like the awesome bodies of water in Lake Powell
Observant, sometimes quiet -
sometimes loud -
Laughter gently rippling
along the water ways
The Spirit moves in on us.
like the giant walls in Moki Canyon
Down to the channels end
and back out again
a spirit moves
A spirit moves
like the awesome bodies of water in Lake Powell
Observant, sometimes quiet -
sometimes loud -
Laughter gently rippling
along the water ways
The Spirit moves in on us.

THE INVISIBLE DOOR
Call me when your ready to be awakened
The INVISIBLE DOOR is straight ahead.
Your making tracks, you know the past,
You're getting closer to the door.
Don't let go of the progress you've made.
You can't go all the way
Without the experiences you've had.
Your're ready to let go and so it will be.
With a wham and a de je vue!
That giant step just thrust you through!
A change, certain and permanent,
And you knew - you had just walked through
The INVISIBLE DOOR.
You'd never look back - you'd never return -
You'd never be like that again.
You had done your time - were sickened with the grind,
Never those things to relive.
Now you remember how long it took,
Going over and over the same old rut.
You did your time and were free at last -
Never to return again!
Call me when you're ready to be awakened.
I'll remind you it's just up ahead.
You're not stuck forever - you're obviously getting better
It's just a matter of time.
Once again you'll be stepping through ---
Yet another INVISIBLE DOOR!

BABY MAZ IS BORN!
BABY MAZ IS BORN
It was a full moon just like tonight
With a hazy overcast, and misty movement
Bringing the mind to dwell upon the events
of the morning of October 23, 2010
Just 30 days ago Mazzen Asher Boggess
was taken from his mother’s womb
He didn’t seem concerned that he wasn’t able
to pick the hour or the minute of his birth
It was his destiny and he came through
like a champ, seeking out those around him
Taking his first breath, yet knowing -
what he was looking for – his mother’s milk
“Dear, dear child! If my father were alive he’d cry!
He’d want so much more for you
Knowing the evil and heartbreak in this world
Knowing the danger and how vulnerable you are.
But God and His forces have you covered
Along with your sisters and mom and dad
Giving you a place in time like the full moon overhead
Laying out the path where you‘ll make your "mark”
With his gentle nature, and keen clear vision
He’ll call for JUSTICE and defend the weak
He may not know what the future holds ... yet
He’ll face it with courage, and God’s great love.
